Armour Prayer

This is my paraphrase of Ephesians 6:10-18, about the Armour of God. Perhaps this prayer will strengthen you for today.

God,

I need you today, knowing I am in a spiritual battle even in this physical world. You have given me armour to help, so I put on each piece.

At the end of the day may I be standing firm before You.

I put on the belt of Your Truth, to discern untruth and evil schemes.

     Teach me Your Truth.

I put on the breastplate of Your righteousness, Your character.

Teach me to be like you.

Wherever today takes me, I put on shoes of peace, knowing Your Good News can make a difference in this world.

Give me Your Peace, and teach me to be a Peacemaker.

I hold up the shield of faith, asking for Your protection from attacks of the devil.

     Increase my faith.

I put on the helmet of salvation, knowing Your death and resurrection makes a difference in each of my choices.

Teach me to think like You.

I take the sword of the Spirit, Your Word, and ask that you speak to me and through me.

     Teach me to hear You.

Lord, may I remain in constant communication with You today, being alert to where You are working in the lives of others and in my life.

I pray Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.

Amen.

  1. Beautiful prayer, Marnie. I prayed it today and will continue to do so in the days to come! Thank you.

  2. This blog is beautiful, Marnie, and just what I needed to read this morning. Yesterday took a downward spiral as the day went on. Thanks for the reminder to put on the armour of God–something that you describe so fittingly for me. Blessings.
