Waiting is hard!

Whether or not we are waiting for something wonderful or something uncomfortable, we don’t like the waiting time.

We know the path we need to be on,
we know our destination,
we know what we want to do.
WHY do we have to wait?
WHY doesn’t God just put things in place so we can get on with what needs to be done?

So we fill our waiting time with doing. Doing what we can control so what we cannot control doesn’t frustrate us quite so much. But eventually, we run out of “keep busy” things to do while we wait.

And we fill our waiting with talking to others, discussing every aspect of our decision, or our hopes, or our fears. But eventually, we run out of words.

Eventually we are left with stillness and quietness.

And that is when the real purpose of waiting begins. That is when God can speak into our hearts in a way that is life-changing,
worldview changing,
thought and action changing.

In the still and quiet times, we can lean into God’s chest. We can feel his arms around us. We can hear his heartbeat. We can look up into his eyes as he gazes down at us.
That is when we hear his whispers of encouragement.
That is when we know his love.
That is when we find his peace in the waiting.

Considering God while we are waiting is how we know that whatever happens, good or bad, easy or difficult, God is ultimately in control and wants his best for us. We rest in God during the waiting, because that is when his strength is given to us. The strength we will need to face,
to do,
and to become, whatever is next.

Waiting is hard, but waiting is also Strength and Peace.
